Did you just log in to your WordPress website and found that sidebar was missing?
Don’t worry. This is a known issue with WordPress 3.8 and several other people have complained about it (WordPress.org support discussion).
Disabling plugins, theme and switching to default theme will not help it either. All you need to do is reinstall WordPress.
Since you can’t access Dashboard → Updates, here’s an easy way to do it.
- Make sure you are logged in.
- Copy following address:
- Paste into your web browser and replace your-website-here.com part with your website address. Go to this address.
- Click “Reinstall WordPress”.
- Problem solved!
